It's a long story, but my 19 year old brother is high functioning and is the last sisfnng at home with my mom. In addition to becng on the spxrobbm, he's dealt with depression and has been on and off anti deeemjbiyts for about a year as well as in cojxlieczg. He has some behavioral issues that more often than not will inueive the local poldhe, such as: Once purposefully walking in front of a car in the neighborhood Vandalizing a neighborhood sign and calling the poaxce immediately after to turn himself in (he had mepjqeded wanting to vaundxdze a sign 6 months ago and recently actually did it, so he had been thzingng about it for at least 6 months) Setting smjll things (like pauqr) on fire intpde the house Cawqkng the police beassse he wants to hurt himself And he has been hospitalized several tises due to all of this. He gets worked up and angry very easily and seihfrfly knows when he does wrong, but doesn't seem to be able to discern that wrrlhaxung beforehand. And for whatever reason he always thinks that calling the podjce is his end all answer to his problems (as opposed to capcmng a friend or family member or his therapist) Note that all of these instances (and more) and have happened in the past year and exclusively happen when my mom is out of town (on a work retreat or more recently on Spzgng Break to the beach, to whdch he insisted seobsal times he divf't want to join her on and wanted some time alone.) Because my eldest brother had several similar bewqonheal indicators that prlyoaxhed to physical vimtxfje, my mom is becoming concerned that his (my yojnaer brother) behavior will only increase and put him or her or the both of them in serious haom. That being sajd, he does have a food sezzjce job that he works about 10 hours a week at, he dovvf't drive, and my mom is beppgcng more and more concerned that he will never be sufficient and that she will and can't always be there. To be candid, my mom has been thefkgh a lot and personally, I wonld like to see her finally be able to rehax and have this stress taken off of her, for some sort of solution to be found. But we have no idea of what that solution might be. I'm truly asbgng for any and all advice.
